Wahnheim Welcomes You:
The owners have lovingly dubbed their home away from home, Wahnheim, meaning serenity. This will be ever apparent from the moment you arrive! Most cottages start their magic of creating this much needed sense of calmness upon entering the cottage, however you will feel that even sooner as you park your car in the driveway and are greeted by a beautiful and expansive garden.
The newly built 2,800 sq. ft. cottage sits nestled on 2.5 acres of land, with coveted privacy, on ever popular Lake of Bays. From the moment you walk in you will feel the hectic pace of the city subside as you are greeted by a wall of floor to ceiling windows with sweeping views of the lake! The open concept kitchen/living/dining area, with vaulted ceiling, warm wood floors, pastel painted walls and comfortable furnishings, is the perfect gathering spot for family get-togethers, morning, noon and night. Prepping meals in the modern kitchen will be a treat with soothing views out to the garden on one side and beautiful views of the lake to the other.
The upper loft is bright and spacious with a piano and TV for entertainment, a library of books to read from and an abundance of seating to chill and relax in, all while taking in tree top views of the lake.
The three bedrooms are located on the lower walk-out level, ideal for cooler evening sleeping but the family may fight for dibs on the beds located in the Muskoka room. Usually the Muskoka room is an added bonus to any Ontario cottage country property for dining and relaxing but here you have additional comfy beds that welcome sleeping in the fresh air of the screened-in room as you are lulled to sleep by the haunting call of the loons.
Days down by the shore will bring a bevy of joy! There is a dry-land boathouse with a covered deck and indoor sauna. Enjoy a quiet paddle in the early morning tranquility and don’t miss out on peaceful evening fishing. With 200 ft. of water frontage on quiet Rabbit Bay and shallow hard packed sand that goes out quite a way, it is ideal for both young and old alike. Settle into a Muskoka chair on the “Perch” at the boathouse deck and watch the world go by while you chill with your favourite swill. With a southwest exposure you will be spoiled with glowing sunsets to end all of your days in cottage paradise.
If you can manage to steal yourself away from all of this, the quaint town of Dorset is a short drive away with charming shops and restaurants, artists’ studios, Robinson’s General Store, Bigwin boat tours and a must visit to Scenic Tower. Cottage country at its finest!
