One can't help but feel like you are taking a step back in time to enjoy the simpler cottage life when you settle into this wonderful waterfront property!
This beautifully maintained century old Muskoka cottage classic, located on Moon River, has been in the family for five generations! The family’s patriarch founded Kimberley Point with a close friend, purchasing 54 acres of prime waterfront land along the historic Moon River. In short order 12 cottages were built which, for the next 40 years or so, were rented to various families and also operated as a resort called Kimberley Point. During this time a central “lodge” was also built which served the guests as a dining and party hall, a function still in use today.
By the 1940's, however, the cottages had become strickly a summer family retreat , and today, after 5 generations, 5 of the 12 cottages are still owned by descendends. All owners, however, still steadfastly share and maintain the Kimberley Point traditions, such as communal maintenance and improvements, social dinners and horse shoe tournaments.
It is obvious to see why this gem remains in the family, watching the kids grow up and play in the ideal cottage country setting. The cottage is the perfect size for a small family. Comprised of two bedrooms and a 3-piece bath in the main cottage plus a 168 sq. ft. bunkie with a 2-piece bathroom, this cottage offers all the basic comforts and conveniences of home while maintaining the ambiance that made Muskoka famous with unforgettable memories.
The interior of the cottage is warm and inviting with wood floors and ceilings, comfortable furnishings and an abundance of windows allowing for soft natural lighting throughout the day. The generous sized screened-in Muskoka room runs the length of the lakeside front of the cottage, always a bonus feature at any cottage as it can be enjoyed rain or shine without feeling like you are missing out on the great outdoors.
Start your mornings, coffee cup in hand, on the dock before the river wakes up. Laze the days away soaking up the sun or sitting in the shade from just about anywhere on the property while still being able to keep an eye on the kids as they splash and play in the wonderful and safe hard-packed sand entry alongside the dock.
Paddle down the river to explore and discover many wonderful secret spots or grab a fishing pole and while away the hours fishing in this beautiful and peaceful setting. Later on head into close by Bala or Port Carling and spend time browsing the local shops and picking up fresh baked items for breakfast the next day. But nothing will beat the evening loon songs back at the cottage and the stunning views over the river when the moon is full! Life is good!
