Located on a quiet section of Muskoka River, just a “paddle” away from Mary Lake, this lovely cottage is a wonderful combination of cottage classic original with modern renovated additions. Alongside the main cottage is a Bunkie with 2 bedrooms and a 4 piece bathroom that is also available from June to September.
The owner’s great grandparents built the original cottage and it has never been on the market for sale. Needless to say there is great pride and obvious love found in every detail of both maintaining the original structure and introducing the modern influences of today’s cottage feature choices. Affectionately scattered throughout you will also find hand painted crafts contributed by the current owners.
The original cottage was a traditional cabin in the woods with the entire of the living space (kitchen, living room and bedroom) fitting into 400 sq. ft., which is currently now the living room. Preserving the log cabin interior walls, dark wood floors and wood beamed cathedral ceilings, while adding a modern granite stone gas fireplace, beckons for family gatherings after dinner and a long day of fun in the sun.
The addition of the kitchen and dining room on the main floor is bright and open with a soaring cathedral ceiling in the kitchen and river facing glass doors in the dining room. Both the dining room and living room have easy access walk outs to the deck to either bring in the great weather or step out and enjoy it!
The upper level loft has a spacious master bedroom with a 4 piece bathroom ensuite and a walk out to a private deck, perfect for the parents, while the lower level has 2 bedrooms, a 3 piece bathroom and a family room with a walkout to a lower covered patio, ideal for the kids.
A set of gradual stairs take you down to the dock and 140 feet of natural shore line. To the left of the dock is an area for shallow entry, great for kids, while the water at the end of the dock is around 5 ft. deep, perfect for shallow diving and refreshing swimming. With 2 kayaks at your disposal, head out onto the water and travel down the river and explore all the peacefulness it has to offer.
The beauty of being at this part of the river is that you are minutes away from the quaint town of Port Sydney where there is a popular local beach and a boat launch on Mary Lake if you choose to rent or bring a boat.
No cottage day is complete though without gathering around your own cottage fire pit after dinner to share in all of your day’s adventures and look forward to another day in cottage country. Enjoy!
