Welcome to this intimate couple’s retreat and enjoy a vacation literally on the water. This immaculate cozy boathouse cabin sits on the banks of beautiful Otter Lake with a southern exposure lending to sunshine on the deck all day long.
The owner’s family have been connected to the lake for over a century. Their great grandfather came to work as a carpenter on the lake in the early 1900s, and fell in love with the quiet lake, so much so that he purchased a parcel of land where the original cottage still remains along with this boathouse, built in 1979, Tbuc (a play on words for Tim Buc 2) as the owner’s call the cabin.
With major renovations as recent as 2014, the boathouse cabin soon became a favourite escape, a place where family and friends rest their weary heads after a day of fishing or play on the Lake.
Otter Lake is a very quiet lake and there are days in the spring and fall when you will not even see one boat go by. Summer long weekends can be busy with lots of boats and skiers and tubers, paddlers and fishermen, but most of the time the lake is serene and mystical, just the way the owner’s like it. Often deer come down to the water in the early morning to drink from the lake, where they may scare up a Blue Heron or gaze up at a Raptor or Turkey Vulture soaring overhead. Seeing a male turkey with its massive colourful plume of feathers is quite a sight! For the fisherman, the lake has a wide variety of fish, from Large and Small Mouth Bass, to Pike, Lake Trout, Perch, Crappy, Cat Fish, Rock Bass, Sunfish and numerous types of bait fish.
Indulge and stay and share in this beauty that is Canadian cottage country at its humble and serene best.
