NEWLY LISTED - August 2017
Time to get unplugged and enjoy cottage life the good old-fashion way! Welcome to this quaint and cozy 970 sq. ft., 2 bedroom cottage and Bunkie, tucked into a quarter acre of well-treed land, right on the water’s edge of tranquil Otter Lake.
The cottage has been in the family since the 60’s, when the current owner’s parents bought it from the original owner who built it in the 40’s. Being the youngest son he couldn’t bear seeing his parents sell the cottage to strangers, so he bought it himself to keep it in the family so as to carry on building on the many years of fond memories.
The rustic interior is well-maintained, keeping all the charm of days gone by, including the typical guest day bed in the front room for afternoon naps when the younger ones have played themselves out but refuse to go to “bed” in fear of missing out on any fun.
In keeping with the older layout, the dining room and kitchen, complete with wood stove, is for preparing meals and dining, and the room to truly “live” in, is the screened-in porch with casual cottage furniture and of course a card table! Day or night, this was always the place to gather for quiet family time with no distractions except for the peaceful lake views!
The 2 bedrooms are tucked into the shaded back part of the cottage, lending to a good nights sleep and for more privacy, the spacious Bunkie is just feet from the cottage.
With a southern exposure and east/west views you will be privy to fabulous sunrises in the morning and sun on the dock from early morning to late afternoon. If you’ve settled into sunbathing the morning away absorbed in a good book, cool off with ideal swimming conditions off the end of the dock where the refreshing spring-fed lake is over 10 feet deep.
If you have brought a boat along or rented one from the nearby marina, there is a boat launch minutes away. Explore the legendary fish holes on the lake as there is a wide variety of fish from Pike, Lake Trout, Large and Small Mouth Bass, Rock Bass, Perch and Cat Fish to numerous types of bait fish. Explore the endless miles of rugged shoreline or boat over to the Grand Tapatoo Resort for a casual or elegant evening of fine dining. The resort is named in honour of local Indian lore, built in the location of a former Boy Scout Camp on the lake.
When not on or at the water, enjoy walking along the quiet country roads just off of the driveway and once you’ve built up your appetite, fire up the BBQ and dine on the shaded deck. As the evening settles in, all there is the sound of silence punctuated by the call of the loons. Needless to say, just a great place to relax and get away from work and city life.
