If you are looking for peace and tranquility, this much loved and pristinely maintained 2 bedroom, 850 sq. ft. cottage is a couple’s or small family’s dream come true. The owners find even the drive up is great and very scenic and ultimately sheds the stress of the city enroute but especially when you turn onto winding Shangrila road and reach your destination, “Rock Point Retreat”!
Located in Algonquin Highlands on a small lake that doesn’t allow motor boats, your quest for serenity will be fulfilled. Sometimes it is so quiet it’s deafening, but as you settle in you will tap into the subtle whisper of the wind, birds chirping, a creek flowing into the lake and the low deep call of bull frogs and loons in the distance.
The cottage sits perched above the lake with beautiful tree top views from the main living area with its floor to ceiling windows looking out onto a very spacious deck with an extended westward look-out and a screened-in Haliburton Room.
The interior is quaint and cozy with pine vaulted ceilings in the living/dining area, pine walls and wood laminate flooring and a collection of cottage décor accents and art throughout. With all the amenities and comforts of home, you will want for nothing. In fact, you may even want to bottle up some of the amazingly fresh well water from the tap for the drive back. The owners do and say it taste like cool clean mountain water.
There is plenty to do around the cottage, from kayaking to canoeing, use of the paddleboat and SUP, swimming, fishing, or hiking with an abundance of nature trails and outdoor activities nearby. Diving off the dock or the rocky point is awesome or you can walk into the lake from a shallow entry side of rocks. Paddle out and explore the marshy end of lake where beavers hang out along with herons, turtles and loons. Or venture out on a day trip on great country roads and places to discover off the beaten path. Antiques barn, artist’s studios, charming small towns and great food in surrounding restaurants.
End your days and sunsets dining outside on the deck or in the screened in Haliburton room. On rainy days or quiet nights, there is satellite TV and Wifi available with tons of recent movies to watch, or games to play.
No cottage night is complete though without gathering around the outdoor fire pit (and you have 2 to choose from!) enjoying the sweet smell of nature while roasting your marshmallows. Come and and enjoy this piece of paradise.
