PINE COTTAGE
Rustic yet elegant, and beautifully appointed, Pine Cottage, offers a quiet sunny getaway in the heart of Muskoka. Located on tranquil Lake Menominee, the south-facing shoreline enjoys all-day sunshine. A large glass-railed deck overlooks the waterfront offering beautiful unobstructed views of the lake and just a few steps take you down to the shallow, sandy beach area and a 50 ft. dock with a 250 sq. ft. platform deck at the end.. It’s perfect for families, and especially well-suited for young children, as there is very shallow water for a considerable distance off the beach.
The interior of the cottage is divided into three principle areas: the family quarters, the great room, and the family room. There are two bedrooms and a loft, a great retreat for the kids, in the family quarters. Rounding out the family quarters is laundry facilities, and a full bathroom with polished granite vanity. The two main bedrooms have walkouts to the waterfront.
The great room is the central gathering place for the family. A vaulted ceiling with exposed whitewashed beams arches over a complete kitchen fitted with a Whirlpool gas stove and range top, Kitchen Aide dishwasher, and a fridge/freezer plus beverage fridge. The long refectory table seats ten, and the lounge area is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view from windows on three sides overlooking the waterfront. All the equipment in the kitchen, from the chef’s knives to the appliances to the cookware to the crockery is all high-quality.
The living room is spacious, with three walkouts to the deck, and long views down the lake. There is another three piece bathroom and bedroom off the living room.
The entire cottage is updated, with gorgeous wide-plank pine floors, and tongue and groove paneling throughout. It has a total living space of 2000 sq ft. The bathrooms are trimmed in bead board, with new hardware and fittings. The interior is a modern take on the traditional Muskoka family cottage.
Perhaps the best feature of Pine Cottage is its unusual proximity to the waterfront. You are never more than just a few steps from the lake, and a shoreline that varies from large granite boulders to sandy beach. There is a level gradual sloping path from the cottage to the dock and deck area with 155 feet of waterfront. The entry is firm sand giving way to a softer lakebed, with some visible rocks. The water is shallow, and therefore unusually warm for a Muskoka lake. You can walk in from the shore, or step off the dock to swim out to the swim raft.
The large deck area at the end of the dock is the perfect place to watch the sun set over the sheltered bay, and the cottage and shoreline face south for maximum sunshine during the day. Water toys include a 16 foot Langford canoe, double open-top kayak, Pelican paddleboat, and for sailors a Laser with new canvas.
For day trips and shopping, the village of Baysville is 8 kilometers away. Baysville offers a charming cafe called Miss Nellies, which doubles as an antique shop. There are two general stores, a bakery and an LCBO outlet, plus pathways along the dam across the Muskoka River.
The town of Huntsville is 15 kilometers away, a 10-15 minute drive, and has every amenity you could want, from a multiplex theater, to the bustling main street full of shops and restaurants. There are numerous golf courses nearby as well as hiking and snowmobile trails (just up the street for winter fun!).
Lake Menominee is a medium sized lake with no public access, so boat traffic is minimal, and the views are uninterrupted. It’s also cleaner and quieter than many of the larger, more highly- populated lakes. Pine Cottage is situated in a quiet bay at the northern end of the lake, facing south by southwest.
Pine Cottage is designed to provide the idyllic Muskoka experience, combining the natural beauty of a quiet lakefront retreat with just the right blend of home comforts and luxury touches, and of course that one-of-a-kind Muskoka feeling. The owners love spending time here, and we know you will too.
