Welcome to Sparrow's Nest

Welcome to this lovely 850 sq. ft., one level, 3 bedroom cottage located on the peaceful shores of Sparrow Lake! 

The interior of the cottage is warm and cozy and meticulously well-kept. The moment you step into the cottage you will immediately be drawn into the expansive lake views from the large picture perfect living room window and will instantly know that the chaos of the city is far behind you.

The open concept kitchen/dining/living room are in the center of the cottage with a lake-facing master bedroom and 3-piece bathroom to one side and another lake-facing bedroom and bunk bedroom to the other side. All rooms are well appointed with comfortable beds and furnishings and cottage country décor and accents.

The kitchen has a direct walk-out to the deck, ideal for prepping meals then serving breakfast, lunch and dinner on the patio dining table while taking in fabulous views of the lake.

A small set of stairs takes you down from the deck to a large lawn, great for the kids to play frisbee, throw a football or enjoy a game of tag…time to put down the hand held devices and have fun the old fashioned way! Adding to the fun is a sandy beach along the 87 feet of waterfront, great for building sandcastles, and with a shallow entry to the lake, the kids can splash and safely play for hours on end. With kayaks and a paddleboat at your disposal, explore the lake, especially in the morning when the water is at its calmest.

Sparrow's Nest is located in Port Stanton on the historic Trent-Severn Waterway. Founded by Captain Thomas Stanton, who helped convince the Canadian Northern Ontario Railway to diverge over 1/2 a mile north to better serve the tourist community. For decades the railway brought tourists from Toronto to vacation, and supplies to help the community through the winter, truly helping Port Stanton flourish. Although trains no longer stop in Port Stanton, the community still recognizes the Stanton family as a great help in developing the contemporary cottage culture. Descendants of Captain Thomas Stanton still live and visit Sparrow Lake today. 

The cottage is just a five minute walk to Bayview Wildwood Resort, which features a full-service restaurant for those who may like to dine out and a small convenience store serves up Kawartha Dairy ice cream for dessert or an afternoon snack.

A five minute drive takes you to Lake St George Golf Course featuring 27 holes that will test your skill and a 15 minute drive takes you to Orillia, which offers pretty much anything you may need. If an evening of entertainment is more your speed, Casino Rama is just a 20 minute drive away. 

End your days on the dock watching the sunsets then gather around the lakeside fire pit, roasting marshmallow while planning for your next day’s adventures.
