NEWLY LISTED - June 2019
Welcome to this lovely 1,000 sq. ft., 4 bedroom cottage nestled on a well-treed acre of land on the tranquil shores of Bigwind Lake. Located at the end of a long lane, you will enjoy great privacy. The owner’s family has cherished the pristine waters and beautiful sunrise/sunsets for three generations on this lake.
The interior of the cottage is meticulously maintained with 4 tastefully decorated bedrooms tucked into the shaded back portion of the cottage, lending to a great nights sleep, and the open concept kitchen/dining/living area all face out to the lake. With an abundance of windows in the main living area, you will enjoy serene views of the lake whether prepping meals, dining or relaxing in the living room watching a movie in front of the woodstove on cooler evenings.
Cottages in Muskoka often have screened-in Muskoka rooms, but seldom the size of this one! It stretches across the entire front of the cottage and is quite deep, allowing for plenty of room for the family to spread out and keep themselves entertained playing cards or board games or just reading a long overdue novel. The best feature of a Muskoka Room is the ability to still feel one with nature even on inclement days and during the twilight hour you can dine here bug free!
Head outdoors to be witness to Mother Nature at her best! You will treasure sun-filled days of swimming, hiking, paddleboating, kayaking, paddle boarding, salamander hunting, chipmunk feeding and just sitting on the dock and taking it all in. There are actually 2 docks! One for adults to relax on and one for the kids jumping in and out of the water. Just off of one of the docks, there is a nice gradual walk from the shore to the lake for wading and swimming, a great area for parents to spend time in the water with the little ones.
Bigwind is a hidden gem for environmentalists and anglers, avid fishermen can find an abundance of fishing spots on the lake where Speckled Trout, Lake Trout, Perch and Small Mouth Bass are quite plentiful. Two-thirds of the lake are Crown Land and Wilderness Park and completely uninhabited. Bigwind Lake is crystal clear, fantastic for swimming, as it is spring fed and one of the cleanest lakes in Muskoka. With very little power boat traffic due to the 10 HP restriction, this is truly one of the best Muskoka Lakes to explore in kayaks and canoes.
Welcome to the joys of cottage country at this wonderful vacation getaway!
