Welcome to this wonderful, cozy, 850 sq. ft., 3 bedroom cottage and Bunkie located on over a half acre of well-treed land perched above the beautiful shores of Bird Lake. For bird watchers, the lake holds up to its name with a large variety of species gracing the area including sparrows, cardinals, ducks, loons and owls.
The interior of the cottage is warm and welcoming with an open concept kitchen/dining/living area, all facing out to the water with large picture windows framing fabulous tree-top views of the lake.
The 4-piece bathroom and 3 tastefully decorated bedrooms are off to the side of the main living area while the screened-in Muskoka room is front and centre off of the living area. A Muskoka room at a cottage is a bonus as it allows the family to read, snack, play board games and nap even on inclement days while still feeling one with nature.
The Bunkie is a great place to sleep for the young ones, giving them a sense of independence but comforting to know that it is just a stones throw away from the cottage.
The owner’s favourite place for morning coffee is on the lakeside deck, in the quiet shade, hearing only the soothing sounds of nature. Before the sun hits the dock, head out onto the lake with one of the many non-motorized water toys at your disposal. The lake doesn’t have a marina or public boat launch, therefore less boat traffic, allowing for great kayaking or canoeing. Paddle through the narrows to a river/hiking trail that leads to untouched lakes (east and west Buck Lake).
There is plenty of room on the large dock for the entire family to spread out and enjoy and soak up the sun all afternoon. With deep, clean, fresh water off of the end of the dock, swimming is great!
For quick day trips, head into Bracebridge for shopping, dining, festivals and markets but end your days back at the cottage for a BBQ on the deck sipping your favourite wine and then gather around the fire pit roasting marshmallows for desert.
But the pièce de résistance will be the spectacular sunsets, best enjoyed on the dock, as the sky fills with stars…and keep your eye out for the local owl to make it’s appearance!
