NEWLY LISTED - July 2019
Welcome to this rustic 1,800 sq. ft., 3 bedroom cottage and 1 bedroom log guest house located on the beautiful shores of much sought after Lake of Bays! The cottage and guest house are part of a large estate property and are located at the end of the estate providing some privacy from the neighbouring buildings.
The interior of the main cottage has a distinct feel and resemblance of the quaint colonial rooms found on the movie set of “Out of Africa”, complete with exotic taxidermy mounts and a 4-post king bed with draped netting, combined with the true “old time” Muskoka cottage ambiance of wooden décor, hardwood floors throughout and comfortable cottage furniture to lounge in.
The kitchen is bright and spacious with an open counter space to the dining room, making it easy to serve meals from stove/oven to the large pine harvest table. The open concept dining/living room face out to the lake with a beautiful Muskoka stone fireplace as a main centerpiece. A lake facing Muskoka room, 2 bedrooms and a 4-piece bathroom are to one side of this inviting family gathering area and to the other side is a spacious lake facing master bedroom with its own 3-piece ensuite and partially equipped kitchen. The lower level of the cottage is mainly used to access the laundry equipment and to utilize the walkout to the lakeside.
The guest house helps accommodate the extended family with beds, sitting area with another stone fireplace and a 2-piece bathroom.
Along with your own waterfront and small dock, there is also a shared waterfront with the other estate buildings. It consists of a wonderful shallow entry into the lake, with grass and natural vegetation down to the shoreline. The hard-packed sand bottom, which is shallow for quite a distance out, makes it ideal for young and old alike. With a southeast exposure, you will be sure to enjoy plenty of sunshine as the kids splash and play in the crystal clear waters.
Early mornings and late afternoons are wonderful for paddling on the lake, but you may also want to bring or rent a boat and take advantage of the great boating opportunities on this historic lake. Lake of Bays is one of the larger lakes in the Muskoka area and is defined by many bays and graced by many islands, Bigwin Island being one of the better known. You could spend an entire day boating, fishing and visiting the villages of Dorset, Dwight and Baysville.
For daytime outings, you are close to two of the quaint cottage country villages, each with their own charm and famous landmarks. Dwight, just minutes away from the cottage, has a great market, beach and Henrietta's Bakery, while Dorset, about 25 minutes away, has a fantastic lookout tower and Robinson’s General Store (along with other local shops and eateries).
Come and enjoy all that this beautiful part of Muskoka has to offer!
