Welcome to “The Station”! Located on the historic Muskoka site of popular Endiang Lodge, then Arcadia Lodge. In 1903, the original owner, William H Foreman settled on Mirror Lake/Muskoka Lake and opened the lodge for business catering to 60 or more guests at a time. The old lodges on the big lakes were built on some of the best sites, as the lodges were developed before cottages were plentiful, and the owners had their choice of a wide variety of pristine land with fabulous views of the lake.
In 1977 the lodge was replaced with a family cottage and when the previous owners were informed that this beautiful piece of land was coming up for sale, they snapped it up immediately and in 2014, the current owners (along with great neighbours) completely renovated and designed the fabulous family cottage that you see now. It became a huge labour of love as the owner and his dad are skilled builders and amazing carpenters and his lovely wife was also hands on with all of the finishing touches that make this gorgeous cottage so warm and inviting.
From the moment you step through the front door you will be well assured that this family vacation will be one to build lifetime memories on! Beautiful wood floors, pine walls, soaring cathedral ceilings and walls of large picture windows, set up the main stage and backdrop for incredible family gatherings. The expansive lake-facing great room, centered on a stunning stone fireplace, allows multiple seating arrangements, and is open to the beautiful modern kitchen creating excellent travel patterns which are conducive to dining, entertaining and relaxing.
There are multiple walk-outs to the large deck that runs around two full sides of the cottage, providing ample space for dining and lounging either in the sun or in the shade. The deck is sunny in the morning and in the late afternoon.
The master bedroom suite offers a welcomed retreat after a long day of fun in the sun. The spacious bedroom and ensuite bathroom open to a private sitting room overlooking the main floor. A small deck off of the front of the bedroom offers a perfect area for private early morning coffees or late night beverages while taking in beautiful views of the lake.
Five bedrooms and a 4-piece bathroom are located on the split level between the upper and main level. Each bedroom is tastefully designed making efficient use of space with drawers built into the closets.
Enjoy even more fun living space with the lower level family game room along with an additional and convenient bathroom, with quick access from the lake, for wet family members! All the conveniences of home and so much more!
The cottage sits proud of the others along the shoreline on a small point with 110 feet of water frontage. The land is level at both the large circular cottage driveway area and at the waterfront with a gentle slope between making it easy to walk from the cottage to the dock. To one side of the dock, the shoreline has a sandy bottom making entry to the water easy and providing a place for the children to splash and play while the water at the end of the dock is 8 feet providing great swimming and fishing.
Relaxing on the lake is rejuvenating but the true big excitement comes when venturing onto the lake. Add to your vacation adventures and bring or rent a boat and discover the extensive network (known as "The Big Three") connecting Lake Muskoka to Lake Rosseau by the Indian River, and Lake Rosseau to Lake Joseph by the St Joseph River. You could even do your grocery shopping by boat or stop at the butcher's dock to purchase steak and salmon for dinner. The lake also hosts frequent fishing derbies so needless to say avid fishermen won’t be disappointed. The Segwun and Wenonah II make their way up to the lake each week in plain view of the cottage. The kids will love seeing these 125 year old steamships ferry guests towards Port Carling. The rich cottage history of vacationing on this famous lake is one not to be missed and to be thoroughly enjoyed.
For day trips, there is so much to do in the area! Minutes from the charming town of Port Carling, 15 minutes to the quaint village of Bala and 25 minutes to the larger cottage country town of Bracebridge. With a myriad of specialty shops in all three locations, you can spend endless hours looking for unique items to take home as souvenirs and then relax and dine at waterfront restaurants. For the little ones, why not venture out to Santa’s Village in Bracebridge for a change of pace! Cyclists will thrive on the rolling country hills that surround Port Carling and golf enthusiasts will have many fine courses to choose from.
When all is said and done after a day of exploring either away from the cottage or out on the water, head back to your home away from home and enjoy cottage life at its best with a BBQ dinner on the deck and roasting marshmallows by the lakeside fire pit, favourite beverage in hand, and reminisce about the days adventures!
