Welcome to "Bedrock Cottage"!

Looking for a fun and unique family cottage vacation getaway in ever popular Muskoka on much sought after Lake Muskoka? Then you have come to the right place!

Welcome to this wonderful 4-season, 3,100 sq. ft., 2 level, 4 bedroom cottage. The cottage was originally built as a house in the late 1950's on Muskoka's bedrock, hence the nickname "Bedrock Cottage". The cottage has been home to a few families and was recently extensively renovated by the new owners, to host many more families. 

When renovating, the owners wanted to keep the original flow of this forward thinking architectural 50's creation, stepping away from the typical layout of homes at that time, maintaining the uniqueness in its original layout. From the moment you step through the grand foyer entrance you will be drawn into the tasteful interior design combining traditional cottage country furnishings with modern décor accents and light fixtures. Part of the uniqueness of the design is having the kitchen and dining room on the main level while the entertainment/living space is on the upper level. 

The kitchen is a chef's delight with modern stainless steel appliances, an apron sink, a separate beverage area/counter and a kitchen breakfast counter all offering plenty of prepping space for meals. There is an open flow from the kitchen to the dining room and there is a walk-out to a backyard stone patio for outdoor dining. The sprawling upper level living space will provide hours of entertainment on inclement days or late evenings, complete with a large sectional couch, an 85" 4K UHD LED TV with a Sony 7.2 channel speaker system, a foosball table and a pool table. Enjoy happy hour beverages on the expansive upper level deck and on cooler nights and winter evenings, enjoy after dinner drinks relaxing in front of the wood burning fireplace. The generous-sized master bedroom is on the upper level and has a king sized bed and a 4-piece bathroom with a double sink and shower. There are 3 more tastefully appointed bedrooms, 2 on the upper level and one on the main level.

The owner's favorite way to start the day is to sit in the Muskoka chairs at the front of the cottage enjoying morning sunshine through surrounded trees while sipping tasty coffee, listening to chirping birds, and watching the squirrels and chipmunks. But the best moment comes once a week or so when a family of deers walks through the yard and often stays for hours to relax (but please don't disturb them!). Although you cannot see the lake, it is accessed by a gradual 100 metre footpath from the front lawn down to the waterfront. There is a hard packed sandy entrance at the water's edge, ideal for the littles ones to safely splash and play while the older kids can jump into the refreshing water at the end of the dock where the water is 4 feet deep. With 2 kayaks, a pedal boat and a stand up paddle board at your disposal head out and explore the small islands nearby. Relaxing on the lake is rejuvenating, but the true thrill comes when venturing out into the lake. For avid boaters, bring your own boat or rent a boat and explore the extensive network (known as "The Big Three") connecting Lake Muskoka to Lake Rosseau by the Indian River, and Lake Rosseau to Lake Joseph by the Joseph River.  

The property is so close to the popular cottage town of Gravenhurst, just a 12 minute walk away, so definitely venture out and experience all that it has to offer. Do not miss visiting on Wednesdays from Victoria Day to Thanksgiving from 9am-2pm by the wharf for the enormous Farmer’s Market, one of the region's most popular attractions and then experience the Muskoka Steamship tours from the wharf.

However you spend your days, head back to the cottage, enjoy a BBQ dinner and get cozy in the backyard around the fire pit while admiring the night sky and its blanket of stars!
