Welcome to "The River Retreat"!
There is just something so magical about being on the Muskoka River, where the water gently ripples by and the pace of cottage country life is more relaxing than that found on the bigger lakes!
Welcome to this gorgeous 2,500 sq. ft., 3 level, 4 bedroom cottage, nestled on a 3/4 acre of well-treed land on the peaceful shores of Muskoka River. The owners fell in love with this location, just off of a quiet country road, with 145 feet of water frontage, including a rare small sandy beach at the water's edge. They bought the property and gradually cleared it and then personally built their dream retirement home here, a true labour of love.
From the moment you step inside the cottage foyer you will feel the recently departed city chaos slip away, as you take in the breathtaking river views from a wall of floor to ceiling windows and settle into your tranquil surroundings. The open concept kitchen/dining/living room is bright and spacious with soaring pine cathedral ceilings in the living room enhanced with a stunning floor to ceiling stone fireplace, comfy furnishings and warm wood laminate floors throughout. The kitchen is well-equipped and a chef’s delight with modern stainless steel appliances and a central island for preparing meals while taking in the views out to the deck and river. The riverside screened-in Muskoka room is just off of the dining room, the perfect spot on inclement days for late afternoon reading or after dinner beverages while still feeling one with nature. The lower level will have a family entertainment room that will also be a great place to retreat to after dinner for a game of darts or to just kick back and enjoy a late night movie.
There are bedrooms on all 3 levels with the spacious master bedroom just off of the living room with a king size bed and a luxurious 5-piece ensuite bathroom. Three more tastefully appointed bedrooms are located on the main level and lower level, and the upper level bedroom is an open loft with a beautiful pine cathedral ceiling.
Start your mornings with a hot coffee or iced mocha, sitting on the dock and wonder at the rustic beauty of the shoreline and the amazing water views created by the constantly changing reflected light. When it’s really quiet you can hear the sound of the nearby rapids and may even catch a glimpse of ducks and otters passing by. The sandy beach at the water's edge provides a fun area for the littles ones to build sand castles, while the older kids can jump into the deep water at the end of the dock to cool off on hot summer days. The owners love taking walks on the quiet country roads and on the snowmobile trails in the woods, surrounded by the beauty of nature and wildlife. Then to end these perfect days in paradise, have a BBQ dinner on the deck and then gather round the fire bowl, roasting marshmallows as the sky fills with a blanket of stars. Life is good!
In the winter months, Hidden Valley is the best place to learn or hone your mountain skills. For those who are not keen on skiing, enjoy the "Fire and Ice" Trail nightly on weekends at Arrowhead Provincial Park, where they light up a 1.3 kilometer skating trail through the trees. Arrowhead also offers winter hiking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. The town of Huntsville lights up the night sky with the Eclipse walk, perfect for all ages especially with a thermos of hot chocolate!
The neighboring areas in Muskoka can be a fun day or evening trip! Rosseau creates Ice Caves and snowy outdoor geodomes for dining at the J.W. Marriot Resort on the water. Gravenhurst is the starting point for the "Lake Muskoka Magic" tour, hop on a snowmobile and take in the forested trail system right ar your door step. Another must do that will have the kids excited for more is taking the day to tour Bala, with their Cranberry Ice Trail at Muskoka Lakes Winery and Farm.
With so much to do, you will need another week to enjoy everything!
