Description:

Welcome to this lovely 3,500 sq. ft. 4 bedroom, 2 level cottage on beautiful Kapikog Lake. Nestled on 1.25 acres of well-treed land, the cottage sits slightly elevated above the lake. Perched on gorgeous granite with 200 feet of waterfrontage, enjoy incredible views of the sparkling water during the days and with a west exposure, take in gorgeous sunsets in the evening.

There is also a second dock on the other side of the cottage, reached by a short path, in a very peaceful bay and is the owners favourite spot in the morning. Greet the tranquil mornings with cup a coffee in hand and the sun worshippers will enjoy basking in the sun all day long here.

The sprawling main level has a warm and comfortable flow from the entrance to the kitchen, dining room, living room, family room and sun room/Muskoka room that stretches across half the front portion of the cottage. All rooms have amazing views of the lake, especially in the living room where a multitude of floor to ceiling windows virtually frame the striking front and centre island, worthy of an artists paint brush!

Pine cathedral ceilings in the main living areas lend to an open spaciousness with a ceiling fan, warm wood floors and comfortable furnishings throughout.

The kitchen and dining room together are impressively large with a beautiful dining room table seating eight and plenty of kitchen counter space to prepare family meals.

The master bedroom and ensuite are just off of the sun room/Muskoka room and the three remaining bedrooms, second sitting room and third bathroom are on the upper loft level. This entire loft area is also spacious and inviting due to the continued cathedral ceilings in the sitting area and bedrooms.

Kapikog Lake celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2016. It is one of a multitude of glacier-strewn lakes along the giant arc of Ontario’s Laurentian Shield from Georgian Bay to the Ottawa River. The area is now mostly a vast secondary forest of pine, hemlock, cedar, maple, birch, oak and beech with countless lake-river chains, warm summers, glorious colour displays in the autumn and snowy winters.

Settlement and logging of the then prime forest began in the late 1800’s soon followed by recreational interest. Following years of occupation by a few cottaging pioneers, the lake was surveyed in 1966 and some 102 lots of Crown Land sold at auction to prospective cottagers. In October 1979 a group of these cottagers chartered a train, which became famous as the Archipelago Express a.k.a. The Voting Train, to journey from Toronto to Parry Sound and vote for the formation of the Township of the Archipelago, a picturesque mainland and island area of granite, trees and water on the east side of Georgian Bay.

Kapikog Lake has a number of shallow, weedy bays and areas where the lake floor is covered in jumbles of rocks, making it perfect habitat for bass, northern pike and rainbow trout. The lake has 10 streams that flow into it. Try fishing around these stream mouths as the inflowing water also washes in nutrients for the baitfish which in turn attract such predators as bass and pike.

Where the cottage is located is one of the few inland lakes that has the real feel of the Georgain Bay. Explore Blueberry island located just in front of the cottage where children of all ages and adults will love. Assessible by non-motorized water toys only, head out in the paddleboat that is at your disposal. Children can hunt for nature's treasures or you can just swim and sit while taking in the beauty of the lake.

For boat enthusiasts, there is a full service marina nearby, H&H marinas, that offers boat rental by the hour, day or week and a boat launch with free parking for trailers in the government parking lot.

After a busy day of fun in the sun, listen to the symphony playing at night…the bullfrogs in the bay begin, with the crickets chirping in, followed by the call off the loons…cottage country at its finest!
