Description:

The Deck. That’s what the title of this story should be, but then, that may take too much away from the rest of this stunning property and cottage with designer touches throughout!

This beautiful cottage overlooking Kapikog Lake has a gorgeous western view that can be enjoyed inside with the floor to ceiling windows, but it’s from ‘The Deck’ that you’ll likely embrace the scenery and fabulous sunsets the most. The owners have had a multi-tiered deck and dock all newly custom-built; a bit of architecture that will surely take your breath away. It hugs a large portion of the 175-foot granite shoreline perfectly, offering sitting, dining and viewing areas that are second to none. It simply sets this cottage apart. Looking out at the small rock island, reminiscent of a postcard of Georgian Bay complete with wind-swept pines, and just a short swim away, will surely entice a dip; and it will be the focal point of the mandatory sunset-watching meetings.

The reward at the end of this long cottage road is certainly ‘worth the drive’. You’ll find that parking is easy and close to the cottage’s rear and side entrances, so bringing-in all the gear you’ve brought for your vacation is easy. Once inside this newly-renovated cottage, you are greeted by a big, clean and modern kitchen with new stainless steel appliances, custom cabinets and granite counter-tops. The kitchen flows into the huge dining area, complete with a harvest table more than large enough for your family. There is also a granite counter separating the kitchen with its own seating for five, for those quick breakfasts designed to get the entire crew outside as soon as possible. Hardwood floors, renovated and modern washrooms (one 3-pc, one 4-pc) and many more newly installed amenities await in this home away from home.

The large and comfortable living room is also at the front of the cottage to best enjoy the incredible lake views. The three bedrooms (one on the main floor, two, including the master, are on the upper floor) are quietly tucked to the rear for great sleeps. With a bedroom with 2 singles, a bedroom with a split bunk bed (to create a great kids’ play area) and the master with a queen-sized bed, your vacation paradise can accommodate six people with ease; a great combination of togetherness and privacy can be had by all.

Short drives, if you are so inclined, can take you to Parry Sound and Georgian Bay or all sorts of the wonders held in the Muskokas. Short paddling trips (1 canoe and 3 kayaks are provided) can have you out on the water exploring, and there’s a marina nearby if you’d like to launch your boat (or have dinner at their German restaurant – the locals say the food is great; perfect if ‘not cooking tonight’ is on your agenda).

Kapikog Lake celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2016. It is one of a multitude of glacier-strewn lakes along the giant arc of Ontario’s Laurentian Shield from Georgian Bay to the Ottawa River. The area is now mostly a vast secondary forest of pine, hemlock, cedar, maple, birch, oak and beech with countless lake-river chains, warm summers and glorious colour displays in the autumn. Kapikog Lake has a number of shallow, weedy bays and areas where the lake floor is covered in jumbles of rocks, making it perfect habitat for bass, northern pike and rainbow trout. The lake has 10 streams that flow into it. Try fishing around these stream mouths as the inflowing water also washes in nutrients for the baitfish which in turn attract such predators as bass and pike.

Like we said, The Deck certainly makes your stay at this treasure of a cottage on Kapikog Lake a great experience, but it could also be summed-up very well by the sign inside: “Love You To The Cottage Back”.
